Kate is an award-winning professional painter based on the Solway coast in South west Scotland. She is an elected member of the Society of Women Artists .

Her  work references her surroundings – coastal, mountain, interiors, figures, gardens, though In the studio Kate usually works from her imagination

“Studio paintings are conceived by a series of mark making, often with no prior knowledge of the outcome.  Subconscious underlying themes often emerge, which when viewed as a body of work result in coherent visualization of certain subject matter. En plein-air expeditions for me act as resource training exercises to aid with this process”

Kate works in series – exploring particular ideas and themes so that some elements of the imagery is repeated as her ideas take fresh form.

Kate’s work is held in private and public collections.
