DIALOGUE

18 - 23 JUNE 2025

Gallery Different is proud to present Dialogue, an exhibition that brings together the powerful sculptures of renowned contemporary artist Maurice Blik PP RSS and a collection of post-war abstract paintings by Denis Bowen (1921–2006), released and made available for sale directly from the Denis Bowen Archive.

Dialogue offers visitors an evocative exploration of form, gesture, and emotional resonance across two distinct artistic voices. Spanning different generations and mediums, the exhibition creates an immersive space where Bowen’s bold, vibrant canvases enter into visual conversation with Blik’s dynamic, instinctively formed sculptures.

Denis Bowen’s work, celebrated for its energetic abstraction and post-war vitality, is presented here through a curated selection of paintings, many of which have remained in the archive until now. His canvases pulse with colour, movement, and the immediacy of gestural mark-making, inviting fresh engagement with his significant contribution to British and international abstract art.

In parallel, Maurice Blik’s sculptural forms offer an expressive, tactile counterpart. Known for his expressive and emotionally charged approach, Blik’s sculptures emerge from an intuitive process where he works almost blind, pulling clay out to form a void, distilling memory, resilience, and human experience and forming powerful shapes that both complement and challenge Bowen’s visual language.

Together, their works forge a space where past and present, painting and sculpture, history and personal narrative interact—allowing visitors to witness a dialogue across time that is both deeply personal and universally resonant.
