WHERE FIGURATIVE MEETS ABSTRACT

Discover six artists whose work bridges the gap between representation and abstraction. Featuring four painters and two sculptors, Where Figurative Meets Abstract explores how landscape, portraiture, animal forms and the human figure can be transformed through memory, emotion, movement and expression. While each artist begins with recognisable subject matter, their distinctive approaches distil and reinterpret their inspiration, creating work that is both deeply personal and unmistakably individual. The exhibition celebrates the unique visual language of six artists who reveal not simply what they see, but what they feel.

Mark Godwin
Mark Godwin transforms the sea and coastline into evocative paintings inspired by the Romantic notion of the sublime, capturing nature's beauty, power and emotional intensity.

Matt Lambert
Through richly textured self-portraits, Matt Lambert uses expressive impasto paint to give form to the psychological landscape of intrusive thoughts and inner experience.

Paul Bennett
Working from memory rather than observation, Paul Bennett creates atmospheric landscapes and seascapes that evoke intimacy, solitude and reflection.

Stephen Page
Stephen Page distils animal forms to their essence in elegant bronze sculptures that combine the simplicity of ancient cave art with exceptional sculptural skill.

Krysia D. Michna-Nowak
With remarkable economy of line, Krysia D. Michna-Nowak creates emotionally resonant portraits enriched by her enduring fascination with birds, cats and plants.

Dorothy Brook
Inspired by dance, theatre and music, Dorothy Brook creates graceful abstracted figures that explore movement, balance and the expressive beauty of the human form.
