Juan Isassa

Sculptor and installation artist Juan Isasa was born in 1975 in Madrid, Spain. Now living in Jakarta, Juan has also lived and worked in Indonesia, China, France, The Netherlands and Norway.

Juan believes passionately that there are no boundaries for artistic expression. Often inspired by nature, people, lifestyles and culture, he has gathered a wealth of inspirations throughout his travels. Juan has worked and experimented mainly with papier maché, clay and metal. Through these materials, he creates pieces which reflect the subject and world as he sees it.

“I mostly receive my inspiration from nature and human beings. I have ideas and I enjoy transforming them into living and breathing sculptures. Stripped of all unnecessary details, their minimalistic self-being highlights their soul and their interaction with the surrounding world.”
