Garry Raymond-Pereira is old skool – there are no ipad drawings or transferred print canvas, no plastic fast drying paint or projected compositions, the paints are nearly all hand ground pigment - in short there are no ‘quick buck’ solutions. His methods are not much different from renaissance times, sharing a construction that the victorians would have understood and with an appeal common to all ‘old skool’, from classic cars to iconic films and styles – one of quality and superiority.
His second solo exhibition at gallery different will again explore empty expanses of landscape - sea, sky, mountain and lake. He feels that the views choose him, and that the least he can do is give them his hand and soul to do them justice – after all we know layered paintings last, so Garry is proud to be ”still ‘old skool and still ‘far from dot.com’.
